DIY Halloween Trick-or-Treat Spinner Wheel — with FREE Printable Template

While thinking of a Halloween-related craft to post this season, I saw some carnival prize wheels and thought it would be fun to create a Halloween-themed one that we can use for fun with the kids this Halloween. I did some research on how to make a good spinner wheel made of materials we can easily find at home like cardboard, chopstick, toothpick, etc. So today, I am excited to share this project with every parent who is planning to have some fun this Halloween!

Our craft project for today is not the regular easy projects we usually do here in Party with Unicorns. But I made sure to provide free patterns and templates for this Halloween Trick-or-Treat Spinner Wheel to make the project achievable!

Let’s start this project by gathering the supplies we need:

Materials

Tools

  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Stick Glue / Hot Glue
  • Scissors
  • Craft Knife
  • Cutting Board

Instructions

  1. Download our FREE Halloween Trick-or-Treat Spinner Wheel template and print it out.
  2. Cut out the pattern for the spinner wheel body.
  3. Trace the pattern onto the cardboard. (Pattern #1 = 1 pc; Pattern #2 = 4 pcs; Pattern #3 = 1 pc; Pattern #4 = 3 pcs; Pattern #5 = 1 pc; and Pattern #6 = 2 pcs)
  4. Cut it out.
  5. Hot glue each side of cardboard Pattern #2 to make a rectangular box shape.
  6. Cover it with colored paper and poke a hole in the middle. Use the original printable pattern for guidance on the proper placement of the hole.
  7. Wrap all the other cardboard patterns with colored paper. For pattern #5, use a different color to make it stand out from the rest.
  8. Glue pattern #3 inside pattern #2 leaving a generous space for the arrow to be glued later on.
  9. Glue the 2 cardboard patterns #6 on top of each other and wrap them with colored paper.
  10. Glue pattern #6 on top of pattern #3.
  11. Glue pattern #4 on the sides and back of the body.
  12. Cut your chopstick around 2.5 inches. Adjust accordingly with your bearing and cardboard thickness.
  13. Insert the chopstick into the hole of the body.
  14. Cut out the trick-or-treat template. This is also available in blank so you can write your own trick or treat fortune.
  15. Cut a circle at the middle of the trick-or-treat template and pattern #1 with the same size as your bearing.
  16. Glue the trick-or-treat template on top of pattern #1 and hot glue the bearing inside the hole.
  17. Cut the 8 pcs of toothpick around 1 inch and poke it on each side of the trick-or-treat wheel. Hot glue the toothpick at the back to secure its place.
  18. Insert the trick-or-treat wheel into the chopstick and body.
  19. Cut a slit into the tip of pattern #5 and insert a transparent plastic sheet measuring around 1.5" in length and 0.75cm in width.
  20. Glue the arrow on top of pattern #6. Halloween Spinning Wheel
  21. Now glue the spinner wheel body on a cardboard base wrapped with colored paper. Spin the wheel to know your Halloween fortune! Halloween Trick or Treat Wheel
